Founder and Partner

Mark Gottlieb founded MetroGroup in 1997 with a pursuit for creative yet fundamentally-based retail development.

Through his leadership, vision and entrepreneurial spirit, the company has developed 5 million square feet of commercial development throughout the Southeast.  Mark’s relationships with premier retailers, combined with his creative development approach, position MetroGroup as an accomplished real estate company respected for unique design and quality product.

In 2013, Mark joined forces with Frank Hall to launch Metro-Hall Retail to deliver on-point and on-task development, construction and advisory solutions to retailers and service providers.

Prior to MetroGroup, Mark was Senior Vice President with Branch Properties, LP where he managed a team responsible for $100 million in retail development and pre-development activities.  As Vice President of Real Estate and Development for Petstuff, Inc., he opened 56 stores in 2 years and was involved in the initial public offering and the eventual sale of the company to PetsMart.  Mark earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s degree in taxation from Georgia State University.

Vice President of Construction and Development

As Vice President of Construction and Development, Zach Middlebrooks oversees the development and construction process and identifies potential sites for future development opportunities.

From due diligence to a job well done, Zach manages each project with proven skill and a refined approach.  He puts his real estate acumen to work to identify sites and their best use, formulate development budgets, manage fiscal accountability and facilitate the zoning process.

Prior to joining MetroGroup in 2002, Zach was Project Manager for an Atlanta-based general contractor where he managed new construction projects including banks, offices and restaurants in addition to several renovation projects.  He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in building construction.
